Day 11 - May 26th - Last day in Vienna, Smokey's

Today was bittersweet: on one hand, we were looking forward to visiting Budapest, but on the other, we were leaving Vienna tomorrow, so this was our very last day here. We woke up at 11:30, got ready, I bought a cheap duffel bag for extra stuff, then we went to St. Stephen’s to spend the day.

Our group split up a bit since today was a free day to do whatever we wanted. We found a Mexican-ish restaurant named Sparky’s. I got a turkey quesadilla which wasn’t super delicious, it was pretty much a bit of turkey covered in tomato soup inside a tortilla.

After this, we walked more until we found a Gelateria named Lori’s Eissalon, which made it pretty much necessary for us to get gelato there.

With our gelato in hand, we went to H&M and shopped a bit.
At dinnertime, it was time to meet Lori’s slack lining friends at 5 at Smokey’s, a hamburger place. Before we went there, though, we thought it would be a good idea to invite the Thains, so Lori and Kaitlyn went to their hotel to tell them while Stevie and I waited for Nicole to come back from getting Gelato. Our plan was to meet in the U-bahn station closest to Smokey’s, but what we didn’t know was that this particular station had about four exits/entrances. After waiting for Kaitlyn and Lori to appear from one of the trains (we didn’t even know which one they were on), we finally decided to methodically check each of the exits. On the third one I saw them and the Thains standing a ways away from the station. We gratefully went with them to find Smokey’s. It ended up being really good and we had a good time.

The guys were teasing us about our accents, especially the way we say ‘Justin Bieber’.

We were sad that it was our last night in Vienna, though, and we didn’t want to end the day so lamely as packing, but that’s what we ended up doing after buying a pastry from the Westbahnhof station and eating it there while sort-of watching the sun go down. It was a sad feeling leaving Stephensplatz for the last time.
