Day 20 - June 4th - Salzburg

Today it was pouring rain all day, but we took the hour-long bus ride to Salzburg anyway and walked around it awhile before we decided we were tired of walking in the rain. For some reason, everything starts looking the same when the weather is overcast, gray, and raining. But we got to see Mirabell gardens and we took awhile posing on the steps like Julie Andrews did in ‘The Sound of Music’.

Then we visited the garden where all the dwarf statues are.

Then we wandered over to the main garden square area full of flowers and statues.

Matchy-matchy Heather and Suzanne :)

We then walked through the city a little more, seeing a few other things like Mozart’s birthplace (or something like that) and the fountain from ‘The Sound of Music’.

Then we tried to find a place to eat some lunch, but everywhere was so crowded because everyone was taking refuge from the rain. In the end, we girls decided to head home and find some food on the way, leaving the Hashimoto’s in peace to be able to do whatever they wanted. We found this amazing pizza and pasta place that had the most delicious pasta I had ever eaten; though I don’t remember the name, I remember it was a cream sauce made with bacon and maybe gorgonzola cheese? Anyway, whatever was in it was divine. That night we all went to a nice restaurant in St. Gilgen for a last group dinner together. It was the last night we’d have as a group before we all went our separate ways. In honor of Lori’s birthday in a few days, Kaitlyn and I both got a dessert and shared it with Lori.

This was the one I got

They were both delicious. Then we all headed back to the hostel to pack for tomorrow.
