Today our group split up. Nicole
stayed around St. Gilgen with a small headache, Lori, Kaitlyn and Stevie took
off for the steep hike around Lake Wolfgangsee, and Heather, Suzanne, myself,
and the Hashimotos boarded the hop-on hop-off lake ferry boat thing (technically called the Wolfgangsee Schifffahrt).
It makes a circuit of
the lake and stops at every small town around its edges.
We took pictures through the windows as we went around the lake once, then we got off and toured
some of the small towns around the edges of the lake. While we were on the
ferry, we also bought some delicious hot chocolate, with real blocks of
chocolate you melt into the hot cream; it was so good. My favorite little town was
St. Wolfgang, which was so charming and authentic, we even saw a few people
wearing lederhosen!
After walking around for awhile, we got back on the boat
and rode it to Strobl, where we got off and looked around again. We ate lunch
there at a nice place with really good food. After lunch we thought we’d walk
around the lake on a nice, pretty pathway and catch the boat at the next stop
over.
We ended up speedwalking nearly the whole time, in the end we were
running to catch the boat. It was almost pulling out of the dock when we got
there. We gratefully got on the ferry, ready to go home for the day.
That night, we girls all sat on the beds around the laptop while we watched The Sound of Music. Even though we had difficulties loading it with our poor internet connection, we had to watch it before we went to Salzburg in two days!
